The Mystery of David Lang

In September of 1880, on a farm in Tennessee, a man walked across a field in full view of his family and two friends. In mid-step, he simply vanished. His family, friends, neighbors and the authorities searched for him in vain. Thinking that he had fallen into a hole, the county surveyor was called out to check for any sinkholes or caves on the property. None were found. The ground was solid. A year later, his children noticed that at the spot where their father had disappeared the grass was discolored and brittle.
